ELIZABETHTON WOMAN CHARGED WITH STEALING THOUSANDS FROM FORMER EMPLOYER

 

 

 

JOHNSON CITY – Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for a Carter County woman accused of embezzling money from the attorney’s office for which she worked. 

 

In February, at the request of 1st District Attorney General Tony Clark, TBI Special Agents, working alongside the Elizabethton Police Department, began investigating Emilee Elise Howard. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Howard, an administrative assistant for attorney David Crockett, was responsible for stealing more than $300,000 from the law office over a five year period.  Howard no longer works for the law office.

 

On September 1st, the Carter County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Howard, 31, of Roan Mountain, with one count of Theft over $250,000, two counts of Theft over $10,000 and one count of Theft over $1,000. Today, Howard turned herself in and was booked into the Carter County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
