JOHNSON COUNTY MAN INDICTED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY INVESTIGATION
JOHNSON CITY – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a Johnson County man on sexual exploitation charges.
In December 2016, at the request of 1st District Attorney General Tony Clark, TBI Special Agents joined the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in investigating information obtained from the Avery County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Office concerning an individual believed to be in possession of images containing child pornography. With the assistance of an Internet Crimes Against Children investigator with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Agents developed information that led them to a home on Shoun Street in Mountain City. A search warrant was executed and Derek Lee Dickson (DOB 6/22/92) was determined to be the individual in possession of those images.
On Monday, the Johnson County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Dickson with one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Today, he turned himself in and was booked into the Johnson County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
