Tennessee Highway Safety Office Promotes “Memorial Holiday Safety Break” on May 25
TENNESSEE – On Friday, May 25, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office joins the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development for three press events to support the Tennessee Trucking Association and Foundation for its annual “Memorial Holiday Safety Break.”
Members of Tennessee’s Road Team and the Tennessee Trucking Association Safety Management Council will visit rest areas and welcome centers across the state to promote highway safety and provide free refreshments for those traveling the holiday weekend. The Tennessee Trucking Association will display a tractor-trailer onsite to illustrate the four blind spots located around large vehicles where crashes are likely to occur. Road Team Captains will discuss the importance of buckling up, slowing down, and keeping a safe following distance. Discussions will also include the risks of drowsy driving and distracted driving.
