WHITE COUNTY SHOOTING DEATH RESULTS IN ARREST OF JUVENILE
COOKEVILLE – A joint investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the office of the 13th
District Attorney General, and the White County Sheriff’s Department has resulted in the arrest of a male juvenile who is
charged in connection with a shooting death Thursday night.
At the request of 13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, on September 13th, TBI Agents joined deputies with the
White County Sheriff’s Department in investigating a shooting death that occurred at a residence on Crossville Highway
in Sparta. When deputies responding to a 911 call arrived at the home, they found a 47-year-old deceased male with a
gunshot wound. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a male juvenile who lived in the home was
the individual responsible for the death.
On Thursday night, a 14-year-old male was charged with voluntary manslaughter via a juvenile petition. He is currently
being held in juvenile detention. Due to the juvenile’s age, he is not being identified at this time. A hearing on this incident
is scheduled to go before a Juvenile Court judge on Monday.
