7 injured after shots fired during street race, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A shooting sent seven people to the hospital Saturday evening, according to Memphis Police.

Officers say the shooting happened around 6:20 p.m. near Riverport Road, off Rivergate Drive.

About 100 people were on the scene when they heard an argument took and about five or six gunshots, according to the victims.

At 6:20 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 2800 block of Riverport. 
Prelim Info: a victim advised that they were racing vehicles and unknown subjects started firing shots. 5 victims arrived at ROH by private veh. All are listed critical.

There were a total of 7 victims. All were shot and were listed as noncritical. All were treated and released.
The shooting stemmed from an argument. No suspect info was given.

A victim told police that they were racing vehicles when unknown suspects started firing shots. MPD says the shooting stemmed from an argument.

Seven victims were taken to Regional One by private vehicle. Police say they are all in non-critical condition.

This is an ongoing investigation.
