Father and Son First Murder Suspects Caught within Hours
and Hundreds of Miles Apart
JACKSON, Tenn. – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the arrest of Thomas Bishop,
48, and Thomas Bishop Jr., 27, for First Degree Murder out of Hardeman County, TN.
On October 16, two men were shot multiple times at a residence in Hardeman County.
One man was killed, and the other survived. The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office
issued a warrant for Thomas Bishop and Thomas Bishop Jr., for First Degree Murder.
This case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force on
October 19.
On October 26, Bishop Jr., was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Chicago. Within two
hours of the son’s arrest, the U.S. Marshals Task Force based in Jackson located the
father at a home on Scottland Drive in Jackson, TN. Father and son were both safely
apprehended.
“The U.S. Marshals Services prides itself on finding fugitives on the run,” said U.S.
Marshal Tyreece Miller. “The coordination of both arrests is another great example.”
The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western
Tennessee. The Western Tennessee Division of the TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and
its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies,
Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the
Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to
arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
