U.S. Marshals Task Force Capture Murder Suspect.

Memphis-U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the capture of Shakenya Poney for First Degree Murder


On July 24, 2021, Clara Wismon was found shot to death at the 300 block of S. Lauderdale in Memphis, Tennessee. Warrants were issued for the arrest of Shakenya Poney for First Degree Murder for this crime. The fugitive case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force. 



Earlier today, Poney turned herself in after intensive negotiations and consultations with investigators with the Task Force and the West Memphis, Arkansas Police Department. 

“The peaceful arrest of violent fugitives is what the U.S. Marshals is committed to,” said Marshal Tyreece Miller.”



The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force in the Western District of Tennessee with offices in Memphis and Jackson. Its membership is composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and Special Agents with the Tennessee Department of Correction. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
