U.S. Marshals Capture Escaped West Tennessee Federal Prisoner in North Carolina

Memphis, Tenn. – Alex Robinson, an escaped Bureau of Prisons inmate, was captured this morning by U.S. Marshals in North Carolina.

Alex Robinson, 41, and Deshun Ray, 35, both went missing from the Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) Memphis on June 6, 2022. The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force launched an investigation and had been searching for them since their escape.

An unrelated warrant for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine was issued out of federal court in Eastern Tennessee for Robinson on October 12, 2022.

Information was developed that Robinson was at an address in Rosebud, NC. This morning, a U.S. Marshals Task Force in NC, along with DEA Agents took Robinson into custody without incident. Deshun Ray was arrested by the Memphis Police Department back on December 2, 2022. The U.S. Marshals filed additional charges of Escape on Robinson and Ray.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency Task Force in the Western District of Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents from the Apprehension and Enforcement Unit. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
