MISSING CHILD RECOVERED AND WOMAN WITH MULTIPLE WARRANTS APPREHENDEND BY U.S. MARSHALS IN MEMPHIS

Memphis, Tennessee – Tyreece Miller, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee, announces the capture of Hailey Whitehorn, 41, and the recovery of an endangered child who had been missing for more than 13 months.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team (FAT) arrested Whitehorn who had more than thirty arrest warrants between multiple counties in Arkansas and Tennessee. She was wanted in Shelby County for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Lauderdale County for Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Tipton County for Child Abuse and Neglect.

On June 4, 2021, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an Endangered Child Alert on behalf of the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office. The alert stated that the child may be with Whitehorn. On July 20, 2022, Deputy Marshals developed information regarding Whitehorn’s whereabouts. Deputy Marshals and FAT went to a residence in the 900 block of National Street in Memphis to apprehend Whitehorn.

Deputies discovered that Whitehorn was in the residence with the endangered child. There was no answer at the door as deputies knocked and announced their presence, so deputies breached the door and made entry into the home. Whitehorn and the endangered child were recovered after the house was cleared by deputies. Whitehorn was arrested without further incident.

U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller said, “The U.S. Marshals Service’s missions of finding violent fugitives and rescuing missing children successfully came together with this apprehension, and we’re very pleased with the outcome.”
