The JMCEA Executive Board nominated Keith Sherley for a Tennessee Education Association (TEA) School Bell Award.
TEA's School Bell Awards honor media representatives for their coverage of education news and issues as well as the tremendous role they play in shaping public opinion. Specifically, the award program seeks to:
- Recognize outstanding contributions to the interpretation of issues facing public schools and to the advancement of understanding and support for public education
- Help local education associations become more aware of the importance of contributions of the communications media.
We feel Mr. Sherley is deserving of this nomination because of the many years he has covered education news and features through his stories and daily afternoon show. Mr. Sherley has kept the public both informed and engaged in public education. Many in the community were eager to endorse and recommend this nomination.
A portfolio of Mr. Sherley's work was submitted in early February to TEA which will be judged among other media entries across the state. School Bell Award recipients will be invited to attend the annual TEA awards luncheon and receive their awards at the TEA Representative Assembly held in Murfreesboro on May 18. School Bell Award recipients will recieve an inscribed brass school bell.
