JMCSS announces staggered start dates
for Pre-K and kindergarten students
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County School System announces all pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will begin 2018-2019 school year on a staggered schedule.
The district’s youngest students will not attend classes on the official first day of school, Friday, August 3, which will be a half day for first through twelfth graders. Instead, Pre-K and kindergarten students will begin school on a staggered schedule the week of August 6. This means, students will attend school just one day between August 6 and 10. This will allow students to have more personalized time with their teachers to get acquainted with their new classroom and school procedures. Pre-K and kindergarten parents will need to continue to make childcare arrangements through August 10.
Parents will receive a call and/or a personalized letter from their student’s teacher during orientation or kick-off celebrations that will specify which day their child is scheduled to attend school during the staggered start week. If you are unsure of your orientation or kick-off date, contact your child’s school.
All Pre-K and kindergarten students will begin full-time on Monday, August 13.
