Henderson, Tennessee (Dec. 2, 2021) — Freed-Hardeman University has selected Dr. Jason Brashier as the university’s next chief financial officer and vice president of financial services. Currently the dean of the FHU College of Business and associate vice president for innovation, planning and assessment, Brashier will assume his new duties in January 2022.

FHU President David R. Shannon made the announcement Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021. “Dr. Brashier has a thorough understanding of Freed-Hardeman's mission, the genuine respect of the Freed-Hardeman community, and the financial acumen to help move Freed-Hardeman to a higher level,” Shannon said.  “I feel certain Dr. Brashier, along with the talented team in financial services and human resources, will serve the university with excellence."

Brashier became dean of the College of Business in 2016 and associate vice president for innovation, planning and assessment in 2020. He has also served in other leadership roles, including co-chair of the ad hoc committee for strategic planning and chair of the ad hoc committee for strategic planning and implementation. As the director of institutional effectiveness, he spearheaded the university’s institutional planning and assessment processes.

Brashier’s expertise in business analytics is evidenced by the courses he has taught during the past 16 years. These include quantitative business analysis, business analytics, advanced business analytics and analytical decision tools. He holds a Master of Arts in management from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in management from Northcentral University.

Brashier, his wife, April, and their five children attend North Jackson Church of Christ, where he is a deacon.

“When you combine Dr. Brashier’s leadership and management successes, his familiarity with FHU, and his knowledge of higher education trends and finance with his intellectual acumen, humility and curiosity, you have an individual who is the right person at the right time to serve as FHU’s next CFO,” Dr. C.J. Vires, provost and vice president for academics, said.
