FHU Students Receive Durrington Awards

Two Freed-Hardeman University students have received the Victor L. Durrington Award for Excellence in Biblical Research. Jon Paul Gulledge, a graduate student in theology from Corinth, Mississippi, and Drew Aldridge, an undergraduate student majoring in biblical studies from Jasper, Alabama.

Gulledge was recognized for his paper, “A Case Study in Early Restorationist Text-Criticism: Campbell’s Text-Critical Method and His View of the Variant in Romans 1:12.” Thirteen papers were submitted for consideration by a committee chosen from the FHU biblical studies faculty.

Aldridge’s winning paper was titled, “The Treatment of Holy Names in the Scribal Traditions of the Early Church.” A committee from the biblical studies faculty chose it from 10 submissions.

The Durrington award consists of a medallion couched in a mahogany case and a cash prize.
