International blues sensation Chris Kramer’s Beatbox ‘n’ Blues will headline the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center’s annual “Sleepy John’s Country Blues Jam” festival on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 1-10PM, as part of their first visit and performance in the United States. The band, chosen as Germany’s best Blues group, will then go on to Memphis to compete in the world’s leading Blues event, the International Blues Challenge. Their performance at the Blues Jam is part of their larger, televised tour promoting international tourism in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama. You can read the full press release here.
Sleepy John’s Country Blues Jam celebrates the legacy of blues pioneer “Sleepy” John Adams Estes and West Tennessee’s country-blues sound, presented by Precision Coils, West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center, West Tennessee Blues Society, and the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development's “Soundtrack of America. Made in Tennessee” campaign. Sleepy John’s Country Blues Jam will include concerts, symposiums and clinics for students and fans of the blues, with BBQ concessions and free dessert onsite. Also on display from 1-5 PM at the center for that day only is the West Tennessee Museum of Southern Hoodoo History.
