Greetings Examiner Readers! It is now time for this edition of Hair Talk with Camille Shavon.
We have had to under-go some very excruciating cold temperatures during this winter season and tho the emphasis has been placed on freezing roads, pipes, ect, , the harsh weather can prove to be detrimental to your hair as well.
Here are a few tips to insure that your hair remains in tact during these harsh winter temperatures.
*Keep you hair covered at all times. Now we know the older folk always told us to keep a hat over our head so that we wouldn't get sick. Well this proves to be true so that our hair won't get sick. The cold air dries your air out immensely and causes brittle ends. So keep it covered with a hat or scarf for more protection.
*Keep your hair deep conditioned. A balsam conditioner just won't do during the winter season and deep conditioning is needed to lock in moisture from the dry air. This will also defrizz and smooth brittle hair to make it stronger.
*Shampoo less!!! Yes you heard me correctly. Cold weather already dries the hair out and shampooing too often strips the hair of its natural oils and will dry it out even more!
* Trim ends every 6 weeks to keep them from splitting and causing more damage and breakage to your hair. Thin, stringy ends are not attractive and make a hair style look shabby!! Clipping a minor 1/4 to 1/2 inch off will make the hair appear much healthier.
*If your hair is natural or chemically treated, always apply a leave-in conditioner or a heat protecter before blow-drying or applying heat.
