PROTEGES OF VAL JAVAUGHN GATHER FOR 35TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

(Memphis, TN, March 14, 2023) – Valeria Jenkins of Val JaVaughn Finishing and Modeling Studio and the Chloe’ School of Etiquette and Modeling will host a special event on Thursday, March 23, 2023, 6 p.m. at Avon Acres Event Center, 4361 Summer Avenue.

Jenkins will be celebrating 35 years of training young people, ages 3 to 18, in the fashion and modeling business. She opened her etiquette and modeling school on March 8, 1988.

The theme for the celebration is “Results That Are Timeless.” The program will feature past participants and their parents.

Among those past participants will be New York resident Jocelin Williams, who is now a successful hair stylist and makeup artist for fashion shows, modeling and industry events around the country. She attended Colonial Performing Arts

Middle School, where she developed a love for sketching the human body and for fashion art. Thanks to the support of her mother, Jocelin Williams attended the High School of Fashion in New York City. After completing her first year of college in 2013, she returned to Memphis as a Fashion Design instructor for the “Eye Model Summer Camp” at the Chloe School of Etiquette and Modeling Studio. She taught students how to design, build, and model their creations. She earned her degree in Fashion Design from Philadelphia University.

She is excited to return to celebrate with other alumni of the Val JaVaughn Finishing & Modeling Studio.  A licensed cosmetologist, hair expert, plus-size model as well as a retired fashion designer, Ms. Williams is the daughter of former, longtime Memphis resident Jocelin Keglar, who also resides in New York City.

As the parent of a successful program participant, Ms. Keglar will also speak during the program. Her work while in Memphis included Memphis Job Corps as well as the Memphis Branch NAACP where she worked as a secretary and a Get-Out-The-Vote canvassing organizer and volunteer.   In New York, she coordinates school-based programs.

The March 23 rd special event is sold-out.  No additional tickets will be made available.
