NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet Announced.

Dr. Jerry W. Woods of Madison County will be the Key Note Speaker at the Bolivar Hardeman County Branch, NAACP Nineteenth (19th) Annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Friday, October 21, 2016.  The event, to be held at the Hardeman County Center, 208 Hope Street, Bolivar, TN will begin at 6:30 P. M.
 The Theme: “Our Lives Matter; Our Votes Count", speaks to our value system as an organization and our country. The branch will also be celebrating its Fifty Fourth (54th) Anniversary as a charter member of the NAACP. 
The banquet speaker,  Jerry Woods is a native of Madison County.  He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education-Communications from Lambuth University, a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision and an Educational Specialist’s Degree from the University of Memphis.  He received a Doctorate’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Student Personnel Services from the University of Mississippi.
Dr. Woods has excelled in his professional career as an educator.  He has been principal for various schools and served as Supervisor of Instruction for Grades K-5 for Jackson Madison County Schools and as Superintendent in Covington, TN, Clinton Tennessee and Forest City, AR.  He was Associate Professor of Online Advising Educational Studies at University of Tennessee at Martin and President of the 100 Black Men of West, Tennessee, Inc.
He is a member of Phi Delta Kappa (Professional Honor Society in Education), the Jackson Madison County Branch NAACP and the Education Committee for the Tennessee State Conference NAACP.  He is active in many other civic organizations and has received numerous awards.  Dr. Woods most recently served as Interim Executive Vice President of Lane College and currently serves as Interim Director of Special Education for Jackson Madison County Schools.
