TNDP Statement on Women’s Equality Day
Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Mary Mancini makes a statement on Women’s Equality Day.
“Today I was lucky enough to attend the unveiling of the Alan LeQuire's new Women Suffrage
Monument in Centennial Park in Nashville along with Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero, Nashville Mayor Megan Barry and countless others. It was the perfect day, and the perfect way, to celebrate Women’s Equality Day and honor suffragist Anne Dallas
Dudley and the pivotal role Tennessee played in the passage of the 19th Amendment.
Today is also a perfect day to remember that what’s good for Tennessee women is good for all
Tennesseans. It’s good for the Tennessee economy when women get equal pay for equal work. It’s good for Tennessee families when women have access to affordable health care. It’s good for Tennessee communities when our state government is held accountable by agencies such as the Tennessee Economic Council on Women. It’s good for Tennessee’s young women when they no longer have fight the same battles that their mothers and grandmothers fought years ago.”
