Who: Wes Moore is a Rhodes Scholar, Army combat veteran, best-selling author, and Oprah Winfrey Network host. His award-winning documentary “All the Difference” highlights the obstacles young black men face in higher education. His New York Times best seller “The Other Wes Moore” addresses the impact of daily decisions.
What: Wes Moore will bring his story of making choices to Jackson State Community College students, faculty, and staff on September 20.
Why: This is an event is closely aligned with the college’s Achieving the Dream efforts which focus on helping students achieve success. In addition to students, Mr. Moore’s message is hoped to also inspire faculty and staff and the impact that their decisions have on a student’s pathway toward success.
JSCC is honored to bring such an impactful and high profile speaker to the students of the college.

Details: This event is by invitation only and not open to the public. It has been requested by Mr. Moore’s staff that there be no audio recorded of his presentation to the students. B-roll footage is allowed. Students representing organizations such as Phi Theta Kappa, the Black Student Association, and Student Government Association will be available to represent the student body.
