Poetry Contest Winners Ceremony
The Griot Collective of West Tennessee Poetry Contest Winners Ceremony will be held March
18 th 1pm at the ComeUnity Café. The poetry contest commemorated Black History Month and
was open to all public and private school students. Winners from elementary, middle and high
school will read their entries and receive cash prizes. Also, Rodney Richardson Jr., and the Rose
Hill Middle School Dancers will perform.
The Griot Collective of West Tennessee is a literary arts organization that sponsors poetry
workshops for adults, poetry contests for students, open mics and a Visiting Writers Series. The
ComeUnity Café’s mission is to build community by providing nutritious and delicious food
made with as much organically grown ingredients as possible to all people regardless of their
ability to pay. The Café is located at 218 E. Main St. in Jackson. Refreshments will be served.
