Bemis Historical Society will hold a regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 18, at 7:00 p.m. at the Bemis Mill Village Museum located at 2 North Missouri Street in Jackson, TN. Meetings are open to the public, and membership dues are $25 per year.
Jimmy Wilkins, a staff member of the Tennessee Room at the Jackson-Madison County Library, will present the program. His presentation is titled “The Jackson Sun Obituary Index” and will be an overview of the obituary database that he suggested and started in 2012. Jimmy will provide details of what the database includes or excludes and the kinds of information that will be found within the spreadsheets. He will explain which segments are available for use now in the Tennessee Room. The database currently includes approximately 49,000 obituaries from The Jackson Sun.
