Oct. 17: Volunteer Madison County Conference
Southwest Tennessee Development District is hosting a Volunteer Conference, Thursday, October 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Northside United Methodist Church Gym, 2571 North Highland Avenue in Jackson. The purpose of “Volunteer Madison County” is to bring organizations who need additional help together with people who want to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of others. Jackson Police Department’s Narcotics Division is also doing a Drug Take Back event to help attendees get rid of unneeded prescriptions. Volunteers can either come and stay the entire time or come-and-go as needed.
There are 25 organizations who are participating; some of which include WRAP, Hospice of West Tennessee, The Dream Center, ARISE2Read, TN-SHIP Medicare Information & Counseling, Tennessee Commission on Aging & Disability, Safe Hope Center, Area Relief Ministries, several nursing homes/assisted living facilities, and Alzheimer’s Tennessee. Besides a free lunch, attendees will have the opportunity to visit with representatives and learn about these 25 organizations all in one place.
For more information and to make a reservation for lunch, contact Keita Cole at SWTDD, 731-668-6451 or kcole@swtdd.org.
