AFRICAN AMERICAN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVOR AND AUTHOR LAUNCHES REACH BACK CAMPAIGN TO INCREASE AWARENESS ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Drenda Williams, a Lincoln University Alum, has launched a lipgloss line called JoyL and a beard oil called Mfalme to celebrate Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Temple, TX (BlackNews.com) -- Domestic violence survivor and author, Drenda Williams, launches her Reach Back Campaign with new products - a lipgloss line called JoyL and a beard oil called Mfalme in commemoration of the 2019 Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Drenda has dedicated her time, talents and energy to increase awareness about domestic violence and reach back to those who are both victims and survivors.
The Reach Back Campaign will donate 10% of every sale to a female and male domestic violence shelters and organizations selected annually. Her goal is to inspire survivors of domestic violence to reach their full potential, regardless of the obstacles life throws at them.
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men are reported to have experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime. There are still a tremendous amount of unreported incidents which is why Williams is changing this narrative by speaking out about her past experiences to let others know they are not alone.
The author and entrepreneur will continue advocacy against domestic violence, which first started with her nonfiction book titled The Will to Live: Finding the Strength Within to Survive. This book is a testimony of how she survived the trauma as a victim and triumphed as a survivor. In the book, Drenda shares important tools to lead others to safety and celebrates survivorship by sharing experiences from male and female survivors. She hopes to inspire readers to achieve through strength and purpose.
Drenda's Reach Back Campaign showcases her handmade JoyL lipgloss and Mfalme Beard Oil. Both products represent what Drenda stands for, which is happiness and survivorship. She hopes to no only increase awareness but also get others to routinely donate to this cause.
