Forgotten Warrior Breakfast
The West Tennessee Veterans Coalition will host the Forgotten Warrior Breakfast on Saturday, March 7, 8:00-11:00 a.m. at VFW Post 6496, 285 Airways Blvd. in Jackson. Cost is $6.00 for pancakes, bacon, sausage, orange juice, coffee, and desserts. Public is invited to attend.
Proceeds will be used to provide care packages for deployed military women. Items being collected are panty liners, women’s black crew socks and white crew socks in various sizes, Chap Stick with sunscreen, elastic hairbands (not rubber bands or headbands), Summers Eve soap, feminine wipes, non-religious all-occasion cards, writing paper and envelopes. These items may be donated, or monetary donations will be gratefully accepted.
These items are not readily available to deployed military women, and the care packages will remind them of the support of those “back home.”
The West Tennessee Veterans Coalition was formed to bring together the community to share information, knowledge, support and resources in order to become a voice in advocating for active duty military and veterans in our community. The Coalition’s goals are to provide a vehicle for the flow of relevant veteran information; to reduce duplication of services; to be a resource for the community in the education of veterans’ issues; to provide networking opportunities for all who serve veterans; and to provide a forum for those service veterans to identify issues and create solutions. Membership in the Coalition is free, and open to any group, business or organization which supports and provides services and benefits to all who have served or are serving.
