The Madison County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce the Deputy of the Year award that was presented to Deputy Hunter Taylor during the Crime Stoppers annual Law Enforcement Ball. Deputy Taylor has received numerous awards throughout his tenure with the MCSO. One such commendation was given by TN Governor Bill Lee, who recognized this deputy for exceptional support to the Department of Homeland Security for a shooting that occurred in February 2022. Deputy Taylor courageously responded to a call of multiple gunshots being fired. Upon arrival at the scene, he found three victims, all of whom had been shot in the back. Deputy Taylor utilized his training and experience by administering first aid to the victims and kept them alive until EMS arrived. All three victims were airlifted to the hospital. Governor Lee recognized that due to Deputy Taylor's immediate response to addressing the victim's wounds, he likely saved their lives.
Throughout his career, Deputy Taylor has amassed a vast amount of training. He is also a firefighter and EMT. His law enforcement training and employment with the Madison County Sheriff's Office has led to the recovery of various stolen items. Furthermore, his resourcefulness and diligence has enabled him to seize large amounts of drugs. During this past year, Deputy Taylor was able to use his training to make many traffic stops that lead directly to arrests and removal of many inebriated drivers from our roadways.
Sheriff Wiser states that “Deputy Taylor and his colleagues are a major asset to this organization that strive daily to keep our community safe. I am extremely grateful for their service to the citizens of Madison County and am proud of Deputy Taylor for going above and beyond to earn Deputy Of The Year.”
