Area Relief Ministries Hosts Family Fest, Sets Date for Salt & Light Banquet
Jackson, Tennessee — (May 3, 2023) — Area Relief Ministries and The Salvation Army are teaming up to host Family Fest at the West Tennessee Farmer’s Market AMP in downtown Jackson Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Admission is free and families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for a day of live music, food trucks, barnyard and exotic petting zoo, jumpers and more.
Later this year, ARM will also host its annual Salt & Light Banquet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, with the Jackson Symphony as entertainment. Doors will open at 5 p.m. This year the symphony will perform with local choirs to inspire the audience in song.
“We decided to work with the Jackson Symphony for a second year because of last year’s successful show ‘Salute to the Big Apple,’” ARM Executive Director Mike Roby said. “This year we will celebrate local talent and voices in what is sure to be an awesome show.”
Jackson Symphony Executive Director Sherry Freeman said it is an honor for the symphony to be asked to perform again this year. “We’re delighted to return, and we encourage everyone to come out and support the work that Area Relief Ministries does for the community,” she said.
Symphony Conductor Peter Shannon said last year’s feedback was tremendous. “Working with Mike Roby and Area Relief Ministries is a pure joy, and we are thrilled to have been invited back to help generate funds for their incredible work,” he said.
The event will benefit Area Relief Ministries-Room in the Inn, which partners with local churches and businesses to provide housing and meals each night to the homeless in Jackson, Tennessee. ARM seeks to help the homeless make life changes with job training, job placement and permanent housing. It also provides emergency services for low-income members of the community. This year marks ARM’s 46th year of serving the community.
