Forum speaks to issues affecting African American community

JMCSS Board Chairman James “William’ Johnson addresses the audience

The new Jackson Madison County Voters Council held its first annual “State of Black Jacksonians event Saturday around the library downtown Jackson
During the gathering, the panel of guest speakers discussed several issues concerning the African American community, like health and voting rights, leadership and the education system.
The forum was created to not only provide insight to local residents but also to help find ways to work towards positive changes.
Too often we have organizations that come together and talk but fail in Les bind and doing something about the issues they discuss” so the voters council certainly does not want to fall into that category” said Willie Ozier, President of the New Jackson Madison County Voters Council
The event was free and open to the public and well attended
