Jackson-Madison DAR and James Madison SAR Commemorate 2024 Vietnam Veterans Day

Jackson-Madison Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and James Madison Chapter Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will honor the service, sacrifice, and achievements of Vietnam War veterans during the annual Vietnam War Commemoration event on Friday, March 29, at 10:00 a.m. at VFW Post 6496, 285 Airways Blvd, Jackson.  Jackson City Councilman Frank McMeen and Madison County Mayor A.J. Massey will present a joint city/county proclamation declaring March 29, 2024 to be Vietnam Veterans Day in Jackson and Madison County. Honored guests will be Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 995 and all Vietnam veterans and their families.  Light refreshments will be served. 

     The event will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and the “last boots on the ground” in 1975.  Any veteran who served on active duty in the U. S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of 1 November 1955 to 15 May 1975, regardless of location, is deemed to have served during the Vietnam War period. 

     Any Vietnam War-period veteran who has not received the Vietnam War 50th Commemoration lapel pin and/or certificate of honor may request either or both to be presented during the ceremony on March 29.      Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR is a Vietnam War Commemoration Partner.  Over 9,000 organizations across the nation participate in honoring Vietnam War veterans for their service and sacrifice during the Vietnam War.  March 29th has been designated as a day for Commemoration Partners to express their tremendous gratitude and support to this generation of Americans through ceremonies across the nation.
