MARTIN COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA TO BEGIN REHEARSALS AUG. 26

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin Community Orchestra will begin

rehearsals on Monday, Aug. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the recital hall of the Fine Arts Building on

the UT Martin campus.

The orchestra was first formed in 2014 and is currently under the direction of Dr. Doug Owens,

professor of music at UT Martin.

Membership in the orchestra is free and there is no audition required. Members may be students

or northwest Tennessee community residents.

UT Martin students may sign up to receive academic course credit for being in the ensemble.

Anyone who has plays a stringed instrument – violin, viola, violincello or string bass – and loves

to play music is welcome to participate.

Concerts are performed at the end of each fall and spring semester.
