MCP Team Gears Up for Fayette Cares Charity Race

“Time to start training!” The announcement from Memphis Contract Packaging (MCP) CEO Shannon Kee reminds her employees that the annual Fayette Cares High Cotton 5k/1k is only weeks away.  The race, slated for Saturday, September 9th, 2017 in Somerville, TN is an annual fundraiser that draws over 500 runners, walkers, and strollers to help Fayette Cares give shelter, safety and stability to thousands of families in need.

Race sponsor MCP is serious about having a solid team at the event.  This year they plan to bring at least 25 employees, friends, and family members for strong representation on the course and awards podium.

“At MCP we strive to be exceptional in all we do,” says Kee, “Fayette Cares has been recognized for exemplary services and recently scored in the top percentile among organizations receiving competitive state grants.  I’m confident that my support is well placed with an exceptional charity.”  Kee goes on to explain that grants only partially fund the services that Fayette Cares provides.   The 5k/1k is one way that Fayette Cares raises money to bridge the gap in order to offer life changing programs.

MCP provides funding and volunteer talent to the agency but also tries to hire Fayette Cares clients in their manufacturing plants.  “MCP is deeply committed to our community,” says Kee, “we know that a good job can make a world of difference to a family in crisis, as well as the schools, businesses, and organizations those families come in contact with.”

MCP joins other caring sponsors including Fayette County Public Schools, Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, Print Solutions, and Somerville First United Methodist Church.

Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part in the competitive 5k or the 1k fun run.   Awards are presented at the Fayette County Chamber Cotton Festival, where the fun continues with live music, inflatables, games, a car show, food, shopping and more.

Early registration discounts end August 23rd.  To register or learn more about registration discounts, visit FayetteCares.org/5k or call(901) 465-3802 x 223. Fayette Cares is a United Way Agency.
