BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 4, 2020) – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men's and women's basketball Players of the Week.
 
For women, Nola Carter (Fort Valley State) was named Player of the Week, while Briana Thompson (Lane) earned Newcomer of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Nola Carter, Fort Valley State

Nola became the second Wildcat to surpass 1,000 career points on Saturday when she hit a jumper with 2:25 in the second quarter to pull FVSU to 29-28 lead. She saved her best performance for the last few minutes. With a 59-58 lead, Carter hit a jump shot at 1:59 to start the Wildcats netting the game's final 9 points including a layup with 9 seconds as the final bucket. Nola finished with a game-high 19 points shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 1-of-3 from 3-point range to go with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
 
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Briana Thompson, Lane

Thompson helped the Lady Dragons complete a conference sweep during the week with victories over Spring Hill and LeMoyne-Owen. She collected 38 points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
