MEMPHIS – A joint investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of Cornelius Phillips for First Degree Murder.
On August 5th, at the request of former 25th District Attorney General Mike Dunavant, TBI began a joint investigation with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office into the August 5thhomicide that occurred at 929 Barry Marrow Road in Henning, TN.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Cornelius Orlando Phillips, DOB 9/11/1984, of Ripley, TN was responsible for the homicide of Kenneth Jamar Peat, DOB 4/11/1998, of Ripley, TN.
As a result of the investigation, Phillips was arrested on December 22nd and charged with one count of First Degree Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Phillips’ arraignment was on December 27th and is currently being held at the Lauderdale County Jail on a $125,000 bond.
