Madison County Sheriff John Mehr confirms an arrest has been made in yesterday’s home invasion burglary attempt.
At approximately 10:08 Friday morning (Jan. 26) Deputies responded to New Deal Road in reference to a subject attempting to force entry into a residence.
The male resident inside with his family stated that a black male in his 20’s attempted to force entry into his front door by using bodily force.
Fearing for their safety, the resident retrieved his rifle and warned the subject that someone was inside.
He then opened the door, pointed the gun and fired from inside his residence. The subject then fled.
At approximately 11:12 am Deputies were notified a subject was at Tennova Healthcare with a gunshot wound and identified the subject as Marquese Jovan Wood. Mr. Wood matched the description the home resident provided and Mr. Wood was treated and released from Tennova with nonlife threatening injuries and taken into custody, admitting he had been at the residence, and transported to the CJC. He is charged with Attempted Aggravated Burglary.
A warrant has been issued and Mr. Wood will appear in General Sessions Court Monday January 29.
