WASHINGTON COUNTY DEPUTY INDICTED IN TBI MISCONDUCT CASE
WASHINGTON COUNTY – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a Washington County deputy on assault and official misconduct charges.
On September 20th, at the request of 7th District Attorney General Dave Clark, who was appointed as a special prosecutor, TBI Agents began investigating an incident involving Edwin Melvin Graybeal III (DOB 11/10/69). The investigation revealed that on November 10, 2018, Graybeal, who is employed as a deputy for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, assaulted a detainee who was handcuffed.
Today, the Washington County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Graybeal with one count of Official Misconduct, one count of Official Oppression, and one count of Assault. He turned himself in and was booked into the Washington County Jail on a $3,000 bond.
