WESTMORELAND POLICE OFFICER FACES ASSAULT CHARGE
SUMNER COUNTY – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Westmoreland Police Officer on an assault charge.
At the request of 18th District Attorney General Ray Whitley, on August 9th, TBI Agents began investigating an allegation of excessive use of force against Westmoreland Police Officer Amanda Wolfe. During the course of the investigation, Agents learned that on August 7th, during a traffic stop, a passenger who had active warrants exited that vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief chase, the man was ultimately apprehended and handcuffed. The investigation determined that while the individual was handcuffed and compliant, Officer Wolfe repeatedly struck him in the back.
On Tuesday, Amanda Lynn Wolfe (DOB 04/23/1993) turned herself in to authorities, and was charged with one count of Assault. She was arrested and booked into the Sumner County Jail, and was released on her own recognizance.
