Little Free Library Dedication on Tuesday, February 11, 2020

     Jackson-Madison Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will dedicate a Little Free Library in the Ayers Children’s Medical Center in the Jackson Madison County General Hospital at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.  The public is invited to this dedication.

     This Little Free Library is the second in the city sponsored by Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR.  The first Little Free Library was dedicated on October 11, 2019 as part of the national NSDAR Day of Service.  The Little Free Library is located in front of Green Frog downtown.

      Little Free Libraries is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading; builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world.  90,000+ Libraries in 90 countries.  Millions of books exchange annually.  3 out of 4 people report they’ve read a book they normally would not have read because of a Little Free Library.

  The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation’s children.  Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.  With more than 185,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world’s largest and most active service organizations.  DAR is non-partisan and non-political, and welcomes any woman, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineage to a Revolutionary War patriot.

     Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR was organized in June 1901, and is one of the oldest and most active chapters in the state of Tennessee.
