UT MARTIN FALL ENROLLMENT INCREASES; U.S. NEWS RANKINGS RISE IN THREE CATEGORIES
MARTIN, Tenn. – Enrollment at the University of Tennessee at Martin increased fall to fall for
the first time since the pandemic began in 2020 reaching 6,873 students. This compares to 6,715 students
who registered in fall 2021 and represented a 2.4% increase. First-year students totaled 1,107 students, up
6.2% from 1,042 in fall 2021. Transfers increased 5.7% from 353 to 373 students, and first-time graduate
students totaled 268 compared to 224 last fall semester for a 19.6% increase.
“We’re grateful to the students and families who have chosen UT Martin,” said university
chancellor Dr. Keith Carver. “The past few years have been hard for many individuals, businesses and
organizations, including higher education. Students, faculty, staff and alumni continue to support the
university through this challenging time, and we’re pleased that students and families trust UT Martin and
our ability to deliver a high-quality college experience.”
In addition to fall enrollment numbers becoming final, UT Martin earned several noteworthy
rankings in the 2022-2023 Best Colleges edition released Sept. 12 by U.S. News & World Report. The
university was ranked #26 among Regional Universities South, up from #31 a year ago; #10 for Top
Public Schools – Regional Universities South, up from #15 last year; and #9 for Best Colleges for
Veterans – Regional Universities South, up from last year’s #14 ranking.
UT Martin is a primary regional campus in the University of Tennessee System offering
bachelor’s degrees, majors, concentrations and options in more than 150 specialized fields as well as
seven graduate degrees. In addition to the main campus, the university has five regional centers in
Jackson, Parsons, Selmer, Ripley and Somerville. UT Martin Online offers both undergraduate and
graduate degrees, including the online Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree for working adults.
