Veterans Day 2016 Program and Parade

 

      The fourth annual Veterans Day Program, “Celebrating Our Veterans,” will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016, at 6:30 p.m.

 in the Liberty Tech High School Auditorium, 3470 Ridgecrest Road Extended, Jackson.  The program will honor veterans from all wars and military actions.  Veterans and their families from all of west Tennessee are invited to this free program. 

 

     Featured performers for the program will be former Miss America Kellye Cash Sheppard and her father Roy Cash. Choruses from Madison Academic High School and Jackson Christian School will accompany Ms. Cash on several songs. JROTC cadets from Liberty High School, South Side High School, and North Side High School will participate.  The honor guard of the Vietnam Veterans of America will present the colors.  Tom Grant will perform “Taps” to close the evening.

     Representatives from the Red Cross, VFW, American Legion, Disabled Veterans of America, Vietnam Veterans of America, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Veterans Administration, Veterans Affairs, Jackson State Community College, University of Memphis Lambuth, and others will have tables set up in the lobby outside the auditorium to provide information to veterans and their families about services available to veterans.

     The second annual Veterans Day Parade will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016, near the WTH Sports Complex on 250 BancorpSouth Parkway.  Staging for the parade will be at Complex D of the Sports Complex.  Spectators are encouraged to park along BanCorpSouth Parkway and Ridgecrest Road Extended.  All veterans and their families are welcome to participate or view the parade.
