Josh Duggin Appointed VP for Technology at DSCC
Dyersburg, Tennessee – Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) President Karen Bowyer has announced the appointment of Josh Duggin as the new vice president for technology.
Duggin has served as interim vice president of technology since Jan. 30, 2017. He has been employed with DSCC since August 2008 as director of computer services. His responsibilities included system management and security functions of the computer systems and networks; supervising the networking support analyst and 4 technical support technicians; providing software, telephone and network infrastructure support; supporting classroom and distance-learning technologies; and working with users to determine technology needs. He assisted the vice president for technology in developing and implementing policies and procedures and was involved in all aspects of the technology environment at the College. Duggin previously held the position of senior site support analyst and site support analyst at Black & Decker in Jackson, TN, from 2005-2008. Other positions held at Black & Decker from 1998-2005 included wide area network (WAN) analyst, personal computer (PC) and local area network (LAN) support supervisor, senior PC support specialist, and PC support specialist.
“Mr. Duggin has been director of computer services since 2008,” stated Dr. Karen Bowyer, DSCC president. “We are very fortunate to have someone with his knowledge and skills to be ready to assume the role of vice president for technology.”
Duggin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Computer Science from Union University in 1998 and a Master of Business Administration degree from Union University in 2001. With over 20 years of work experience in the information technology (IT) field, Duggin has completed various technology training programs including Banner, Luminis, TouchNet, NEC SV8300 phone system administration, and Microsoft Active Directory Services. In March 2016, Duggin was presented the DSCC Outstanding Staff Member of the Year Award due to his proven ability to produce and sustain a consistent, reliable and high quality IT environment for the College.
As the new vice president for technology, Duggin will serve as the chief information officer (CIO) and chief information security officer (CISO) for the College. He will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of IT and insuring that it supports the goals and objectives of the College. Duggin will also provide leadership, project management and direction for administrative and instructional IT services with an emphasis on improving teaching and learning at the College.
