Students and Faculty Recognized at DSCC Honors Convocation
Dyersburg, Tennessee – Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) honored students and several members of its faculty at the College’s Annual Honors Convocation inside the Baptist Memorial Health Care Academic Building Auditorium at the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County April 27.
Dr. Karen Bowyer, president of DSCC, recommended four faculty members for promotion. They included Kimberly Dew, nursing instructor, Trenna Richardson, nursing instructor, Dr. Brigham Scallion, instructor of biology, and Dr. Nathan Segars, associate professor of philosophy. Recommended for tenure was Christy Hamilton, nursing instructor. Dr. Bowyer will send her recommendations to Chancellor Flora Tydings for action by the Tennessee Board of Regents in June.
DSCC students Christian Halterman of Finley, Jenna Hein of Munford, Dallas Koscho of Atoka, Corey Jones of Obion, Harlie Scott of Newbern and David Stone of Martin were each recognized for graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) and were presented the Outstanding Graduate Award.
In addition, students were recognized for their leadership at the College and in the community. They included Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) student leaders, student ambassadors, Student Government Association (SGA) student leaders and Student Support Services mentors. Awards were presented by academic department to honor students who earned places on the Dean's List, Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges®and the All-Tennessee Academic Team. Tennessee Promise students were also recognized during the ceremony.
Altogether 265 awards and recognitions were presented.
