Jackson Energy Authority has a crew and equipment leaving this afternoon for Jacksonville, Florida.

The eight-member JEA crew and four pieces of equipment are expected to be in Jacksonville for about a week with possible assignment for another week elsewhere in Florida.

This assignment comes through mutual aid agreements among members of the American Public Power Association (APPA) and the more regional Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA).

The costs for the mutual aid services is paid by the local utility company requesting the assistance.  Often these costs are offset with support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

JEA crew members assigned to Florida include: Wes Alexander, Luke Cain, Mike Diggs, Brandon Fesmire, Josh Gaber, Khayyan Henning, Ashley Jones and Rodney Stegall.

The four pieces of equipment include a material handler and a small bucket truck.
