Jackie Utley Named NSDAR National Award Winner

During the 117th Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution (TSDAR) meeting held April 21-24, it was announced that Jackie Utley, Honorary Chapter Regent of Jackson-Madison DAR Chapter, has been awarded the 2021 NSDAR Service for Veterans Outstanding DAR Volunteer Award. This prestigious award will be announced during the NSDAR Continental Congress in Washington, DC, on June 24, 2022.

This award recognizes and honors her many hours of service to area veterans, including serving as Chair of the West Tennessee Veterans Coalition, serving on the West Tennessee Veterans Day Committee to plan Veterans Day events for the past 10 years, and planning and conducting pinning ceremonies for Vietnam War veterans.

Ms. Utley joined Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR in 2003 and has served the chapter as chapter regent, vice regent, secretary, Media and PR committee chair, honorary chapter regent, and Service for Veterans committee chair.  She has served the Tennessee Society DAR as State Organizing Secretary, Chickasaw District Director, Lineage Research committee chair, Media and PR committee chair, Marshal and Protocol committee chair, and Junior American Citizens committee chair.  She has served the National Society DAR as America 250! Task Force member, served on the Continental Congress registration line, and as Southeastern Division Vice Chair of The Flag of the United States of America committee.  She is credited with encouraging 40 new chapter members to join DAR.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation’s children.  Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.  With more than 185,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world’s largest and most active service organizations.  DAR is non-partisan and non-political, and welcomes any woman, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineage to a Revolutionary War patriot.

Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR was organized in June 1901 and is one of the oldest and most active chapters in the state of Tennessee.
