Governor proclaims March 15 as SBDC Day
JACKSON, TENN. – Governor Bill Lee has proclaimed March 15, 2023 Small Business Day in Tennessee in honor of America’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network. For over 40 years, the SBDC has been helping millions of men, women, veteran and minority entrepreneurs, and small business owners start, grow, and sustain their businesses.
The Jackson SBDC, housed on Jackson State Community College’s Jackson Campus, serves the West Tennessee small business community by providing solutions to problems big, and small. Everything from solutions in the technology sector to providing insight to businesses expanding to global exports. With over 1,000 SBDC’s throughout the country, the SBDC network provides knowledgeable insight at the local, state, and national levels, assisting clients every step of the way.
“Over 625,000 small business are started each year, and it’s our missions to provide knowledgeable insight to see those businesses succeed in our communities,” said Edwin Roblin, Director of the TN Small Business Development Center at Jackson State Community College. “We are a resource to businesses in our community to assist in everything from writing a business plan and scaling your business to strategic planning and reducing production costs. We invite all to stop by the Center to learn more about our capabilities and to celebrate SBDC Day in Tennessee.”
In 2022, 6,348 Tennessee entrepreneurs received no-cost confidential business counseling for start-up and existing businesses with 6,172 attending training seminars which led to the obtaining of $90.4 million in capital being obtained and utilized by these businesses. These efforts by the SBDC have proven instrumental in the creation and support of local jobs in Tennessee.
To celebrate the collective impact and success SBDCs have across the nation and in local communities each year, America’s SBDCs are hosting the 7th annual SBDC Day on March 15th. SBDC Day is a national movement to help share the small business success stories and notable impact SBDCs have fostered in communities nationwide.
