Military cake cutting, coin ceremony to take place
JACKSON, TENN. – Jackson State Community College (JSCC) is set to host a Veteran’s Day Commemoration inside the Student Center on its Jackson campus on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11 a.m.
The annual event, hosted by Dean for Students, Dr. Paul Morgan, will feature a traditional military cake-cutting ceremony with the youngest and oldest servicemember/veterans at the event being presented the first slices of cake.
During the event, JSCC President Dr. Carol Rothstein will present on behalf of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Chancellor Flora Tydings, the Chancellor’s Commendation for Military Veteran’s Challenge Coin. This annual challenge coin presentation takes place across all TBR institutions, honoring veteran employees for their service to our country. Veterans are nominated by their respective institutions and hand-selected by the Chancellor.
The JSCC Innovation Vocal Quartet will perform as part of the commemoration.
Those attending are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue for the event in show of support for our veteran’s and service members.
