Biden-Harris Administration Awards Over $2 Million in Funding to Local Development Districts for Capacity-Building
34 Local Development Districts across the Delta region received funding through Delta Regional Authority’s LDD Community Support Pilot Program
Clarksdale, MS – Delta Regional Authority (DRA) is awarding $2.3 million to 34 Local Development Districts (LDDs) in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee through the LDD Community Support Pilot Program. Funding for this program was made available by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed by President Biden, a key part of his Investing in America agenda.
“The LDD Community Support Pilot Program supports sustainable and inclusive local placemaking and capacity-building in the region,” said Federal Co-Chairman, Dr. Corey Wiggins. “As a result of this investment, LDDs will be able to increase their capacity to help local governments across DRA’s 252 counties and parishes work to improve basic public infrastructure and create economic development opportunities in their communities.”
DRA made non-competitive grants available to LDDs in its service area through the LDD Community Support Pilot Program. The program was created to enhance the region’s resiliency and ability to compete and leverage resources by addressing the capacity gaps and limitations experienced by LDDs in DRA’s footprint. Funding from this program will provide LDDs with the resources to increase project development, management, and implementation support to help economically distressed and persistent poverty communities navigate federal, state, and other resources that impact economic and community development in the region.
