Area high schools compete at DSCC’s Spanish Feria
Dyersburg, TN – On March 7, Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) hosted the 32nd Annual Spanish Feria inside the E.H. Lannom, Jr. Gymnasium on the Dyersburg campus. The Feria has become one of the capstone events for area high school students taking Spanish language and culture courses. Students from 13 local high schools competed in areas as diverse as crafts, cooking, video production, dictation, salsa dancing and poetry.
This year, approximately 397 students from Bradford, Brighton, Cooter, Covington, Fulton, Hickman County, Milan, Munford, Obion County Central, Ripley, South Fulton, South Pemiscot and Tipton-Rosemark Academy High Schools took part in the Feria.
The work of over 100 volunteers from the College and the community is needed to host the event. The event was coordinated by Dr. Emily Pope, DSCC instructor of Agriculture, and Teresa Adams, DSCC TRIO Secretary. Planning for this year’s Feria began in September 2016, and planning is already underway for the 2018 event.
