Sen. Jackson announces two Tourism Enhancement Grants for Senate District 27
(NASHVILLE) – Senator Ed Jackson (R-Jackson) today announced that Senate District 27 is receiving two Tourism Enhancement Grants from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and the Department of Tourism, totaling $105,147. The grants are part of the Rural Development fund that was created by the Rural Economic Opportunity Act passed by the General Assembly in 2016 and co-sponsored by Senator Jackson.
“These grants are a great opportunity for Crockett and Madison Counties to increase tourism for their communities,” said Senator Jackson. “I am pleased to see grants from this program supporting our communities, and I was happy to sponsor the legislation that made this available. Congratulations to the local officials for their hard work in securing these grants.”
The grants include:
· $35,000 to the Town of Alamo for wayfinding signage, a welcome sign, minor landscaping, and ADA compliant hand railing. The project will begin at the Tennessee Safari Park in Crockett County and will end at the City of Alamo in Court Square; and
· $50,000 to the City of Jackson for modernizing the Southern Legends of Music Museum at the Carnegie Center for Arts and History
“I look forward to seeing the growth that will result from these grants, and I will continue to support the development of businesses and tourism improvements in our communities.” added Jackson.
