Vietnam War Surviving Spouse Honored by DAR

Jackson-Madison DAR recognized and honored the Surviving Spouse of an active duty Vietnam War veteran, Pamela Kay McGill Grady. Ms. Grady’s late husband, Joe Harold McGill, served during the Vietnam War.  Ms. Grady received a Certificate of Honor and a Surviving Spouse lapel pin from the USA Vietnam War 50th Commemoration at the Jackson-Madison DAR chapter meeting on Thursday, November 21, 2019.  Accompanying Ms. Grady were her sister-in-law Jackson-Madison Chapter Vice Regent Jan McGill Bynum, her brother Jimmy McGill, and her daughter Shonda Mason. Mr. McGill is also a Vietnam War veteran.

Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR is a Vietnam War Commemoration Partner.  Over 9,000 organizations across the nation participate in honoring Vietnam War veterans for their service and sacrifice during the Vietnam War.  Jackson-Madison DAR joins Commemoration Partners to express their tremendous gratitude and support to this generation of Americans through ceremonies across the nation.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation’s children.  Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.  With more than 185,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world’s largest and most active service organizations.  DAR is non-partisan and non-political, and welcomes any woman, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineage to a Revolutionary War patriot.

Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR was chartered in April 1901, and is one of the oldest and most active chapters in the state of Tennessee.
