HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO OFFER FREE FLU SHOTS NOVEMBER 9
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department will offer free flu vaccines Wednesday, Nov. 9 during a special “Fight Flu ‘22” vaccination event.
Free flu shots will be available at the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while supplies last. You do not need an appointment or insurance to get a free flu shot that day.
The health department is located at 804 North Parkway. Park on the back side of the building and come in the administrative entrance.
The Centers and Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone six months of age and older get a flu vaccine each year. The flu vaccine is especially important for infants, young children, pregnant women, adults over age 50 and those with chronic medical conditions.
Immunization against the flu protects the person receiving the vaccine and his or her family, friends, and coworkers.
“The flu vaccine helps prevent hospitalization and death,” Epidemiologist Shanna Shearon Wilbanks said. “Getting vaccinated helps protect you and others against some of the most prevalent strains of influenza.”
COVID-19 vaccines will also be available for everyone 6 months and older at the event. You can get a COVID-19 vaccine and flu vaccine at the same time if you are eligible. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive a vaccine.
