Delta Regional Authority Announces $3.5 Million Investment into West Tennessee Communities
Delta Regional Authority’s investment will improve basic public infrastructure and support workforce development to BlueOval City and surrounding areas
Clarksdale, MS – Delta Regional Authority (DRA) announced a $3,539,000 investment that will boost economic development and improve the quality of life for current and future businesses and residents surrounding the BlueOval City automotive complex near Stanton, Tennessee. Funding from this project is provided by the Community Infrastructure Fund (CIF). The investment will be matched by $8,140,000 in additional funds from USDA Rural Development.
The Town of Stanton investment project will provide water and sewer utility services to facilities critical to BlueOval City, a planned automotive assembly complex near Stanton, Tennessee, operated by Ford Motor Company and BlueOval SK. BlueOval City is Ford’s largest, most advanced auto production complex in its history and will be home to the next-generation electric truck from Ford. Additional facilities supported by the project include an existing fire station and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, which will serve as Ford’s primary training center. The project is expected to create 2,700 direct jobs and over 3,300 indirect jobs.
“The Community Infrastructure Fund is one of DRA’s most unique tools that allows us to expand and invest in the resiliency of the region’s public infrastructure,” said Federal Co-Chairman, Dr. Corey Wiggins. “As a result of this investment, nearly 6,000 jobs are projected to be created, helping to improve residents’ quality of life and increase economic opportunity for communities across West Tennessee.”
The purpose of the CIF program is to address unmet basic public infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, and flood control needs to help build safer, more resilient communities in the Delta region.
